COURSE DESCRIPTION: In the security and public safety industry, an integral function of supervisors and human resource personnel is the effective scheduling of manpower resources. For instance, officers are to be scheduled for various shifts, days and times of the week, placed in various clients’ locations probably across the country, allocated based on the type of security services required whether armed officer, baton officer, canine, etc. This can be a very challenging exercise and requires appropriate expertise to manage such operations and ensure that the clients’ needs are satisfied as well as contractual obligations are met. The task also requires emergency rescheduling operations, for example, when officers are absent from work, late to work, fall ill, is on vacation, leaves the job, etc.
Matching officers’ capabilities, workload as well as contract obligations is a key element in human resource matters for security and public safety institutions. This course tackles all of these issues and more from a professional standpoint by sharing key principles, strategies and readily implementable solutions. It will strengthen the human resource capacity of security and public safety companies in manpower scheduling matters. Effective scheduling of manpower often leads to improved employee morale, customer service, efficiency and continuity in business activities. Participants in this course will be exposed to strategies to realise such benefits for their organization.
