61 Security and Human Resource: Successful Officer Retention Strategies and Practices Mon, 10 February 2014 Mon, 10 February 2014 1000 TTD Per Seat

Course Fee $1,000.00

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The security industry is plagued with the problem of officers not staying with a particular company or even within the industry as a whole for any reasonable time. This can be disastrous to the company or industry for many reasons. It affects stability, continuity, and importantly, the bottom line – profit – as companies have to repeatedly source, train and retrain personnel. Companies may therefore become reluctant to invest in training for officers because they may suddenly depart. This does not auger well for the officer, company and industry.

Resultantly, there is the pressing need for the timely development and implementation of appropriate officer retention policies and strategies. This brings tremendous benefits to companies and the industry. This course tackles such matters head on. Case studies and other illustrations with technical human resource management recommendations targeted specifically to the security industry will be presented and discussed in class.

INVESTMENT: $1,250

SICK BUILDING SYNDROME

‘Sick Building Syndrome’, as the name implies, can be defined as a situation whereby the occupants of a building experience acute health and comfort effects that appear to be linked to time spent in a building - a condition affecting office staff, typically marked by headaches and respiratory problems, attributed to unhealthy or stressful factors in the working environment including poor ventilation.

This issue may need to be addressed due to high absenteeism, lack of employee morale and lower productivity. While many employees have complained about these effects and employers have grappled with ways to treat with this issue, there is still no definitive proof that this illness is real. In an effort to ensure that productivity levels remain high, employers should invest in finding out the causes of these issues.
